Buruj Academy Coach Oloyede gets Federation Cup semi-final mandate
The management of Buruj Sports Academy have issued a mandate to coach Taiwo Oloyede to ensure that the team performs excellently well in this year’s Lagos State Federation Cup competition.
The coach, while talking to newsmen at the National Stadium on Wednesday, revealed that he’s been mandated to lead his team to at least the semifinals of the competition and he’s willing to give it his best shot and confident of reaching that target.
“We are always aiming to improve on our achievements everyday and my chairman, Dr Salaudeen Waheed has directed me to aim for at least the last four of the competition this year and I think it is a target we can realise. The team has developed greatly over the past one year and we stronger than we were before so I don’t see why we shouldn’t aim higher than before,” the one time Stationery Stores of Lagos star midfielder began.
He also denied that he and the players may be under pressure to perform given that management mandate, saying he thrives well under pressure.
“We won’t be under any undue pressure. We will take each game as it comes. We have played a lot of teams with older players than our boys this season and we have learnt valuable lessons in each game regardless of the results. The players know what is expected of them and I’m a person who likes this kind of pressure to deliver. I still maintain that we can achieve that target,” he continued.
About 92 clubs have registered to participate in this year’s edition of the competition including Premier League side MFM as well as a couple of National League sides.
“We are also using the competition to prepare for our foreign tour and we know that the challenges we face will only make us stronger for the job ahead when we get to Europe. We hope for fair officiating and good luck because you can’t rule those two out” he concluded
