High-flying Buruj Sports Academy produced a commanding performance to defeat Help The Talent (HTT) Academy inside the mainbowl of the National Stadium, Surulere on Saturday.

The higly explosive game, watched by a fairly large crowd, had the Buruj boys coming out with all guns blazing and swarmed over their opponents from the blast of the whistle.
HTT were unable to withstand the pressure for long as they caved in on 15 minutes when Moses Aziakpono’s corner-kick sailed into the net for the first goal of the encounter. From then on it was one-way traffic with Buruj Academy controlling the pace of the game but the HTT goalkeeper as well as the goalpost stood between them and a second goal until the end of the first half.

Nothing changed much on resumption of the second half with Buruj Academy still dictating play and delighting the crowd with beautiful passes but there appeared to be no breakthrough for the second goal.
However, in the 70th minute Ekoja Emmanuel finally broke the duck by firing home the second goal to take the fight out of the HTT boys. Despite still dominating play, there was to be no more goals until the final whistle.

A visibly happy CEO of Buruj Academy Dr Salaudeen Waheed declared that the boys’ performance is an indication of the abilities they have which they’d not been putting into use before.
“Today’s performance is a reflection of what they can do when they put their minds to the game. I’m pleased with the result but I’m sure they will still do better in their subsequent games,” he said.

Taiwo Oloyede, head coach was also pleased with the result of the game, and promised to still work on the rough edges noticed in the team.

He said:”I’m happy that we won and I’m also pleased that we played some good football in the process. However the team is not perfect yet, we are a work in progress and we intend to get better with each game. You can trace our good performances from the game we played against Kakaaki FC to this one and you can be sure we will do better than this in our next game. It’s a promise,” the ex-international said.
