Buruj set to announce final team list after HTT game on Saturday
The management of Buruj Sport Academy has concluded plans to use Saturday’s match against Help The Talent Academy as final selection of the remaining seven players for its proposed foreign tour.
Buruj are billed to face HTT Academy on Saturday 9:30am at the main bowl of the national stadium surulere in a friendly match.
The match was organised to help the players be in battle-ready shape but with this latest development, it has taking on added significance as players will be expected to outdo one another in other to make the final cut.
According to the CEO. Dr Salaudeen Waheed, time is of essence and the coaches may not have the luxury of time to conduct a separate screening exercise for the team.
He said: “We are taking our time to screen players who have the talent and temperament to withstand the quality of opposition we expect to face on our trip. I can see the fire in the players and I’m glad they’re responding so admirably to the coaches’ instruction.”
It will be recalled that Buruj Sports Academy released a provisional list of 11 players in its 18-man squad and the remaking seven are likely to be picked on Saturday.
Head coach Taiwo Oloyede is also happy to play HTT and to pick his final seven players.
“Saturday’s game is our fourth in the preparations for our trip abroad and I hope to see a much more improved side confident in ball possession, scoring more of their chances and, more importantly, a side that will not just fold up and surrender to defeat in the face of superior opposition. In summary, we are ready for HTT and it will also be a pleasure to select the final seven boys for our trip.”
There are other games lined up for Buruj Sports Academy as they continue to build a very formidable team in readiness for the Super Cup in Dubai as well as the Manchester Cup both in August.
