Buruj set up Hyraj FC friendly replay
The Agege Stadium will on Thursday play host to what has been tagged a ‘Battle for revenge’ as Buruj Sports Academy take on Hyraj Football Club of Ijora in a replay of the friendly game between both sides. In the first encounter between them played last month at the at the Ijora Olopa field, Hyraj ran away with a 2-0 victory.
Since losing that game, Buruj FC have gone on to post very impressive results against other opponents including a pulsating 2-2 draw against highly-rated Kakaaki FC and the impressive 2-0 win over Help The talent (HTT) Academy last week.
This game, billed for 8am, is expected to be pay-back time for the high-flying Buruj Boys who have seen a massive improvement in their game as the countdown to their foreign trip draws near.
CEO of Buruj Sports Academy, Dr Salaudeen Waheed said the game will help the coaches to measure how fast the players are improving and imbibing what they are being taught. It will also help the team prepare for the 2017 Federation Cup which they’d registered for among other competitions.
He said: “Playing Hyraj FC is to accept that they are also a quality side. They beat us on their ground but the Agege Stadium pitch is better for good football so we shall see who the better side between us is. This game will also help us measure our progress so that when the Federation Cup commences, we can give it our best shot. All I want is for our fans to come out and cheer us to victory.”
According to the head coach of Buruj Sports Academy Taiwo Oloyede, the team is in top shape for the encounter which will be a litmus test of how far they have come in the last one month since both teams first played.
“We are in the best possible shape for this game and I’m sure the fans will be rewarded with a good game when we take on Hyraj. With all due respect, they won the first game because of some mistakes from our players but all of that we have corrected and will be on display on Thursday. I;m happy so far with the performance of the boys and trust them to raise their game in the game,” the ex-Nigerian international said.
The friendly is also in continuation of the team’s preparation for their forthcoming foreign tour of the United Arab Emirates and the United Kingdom. Buruj Sports Academy will depart for the Dubai Super Cup as well as the Manchester Cup in April
