BURUJ SIGN HISTORIC PARTNERSHIP WITH BOREHAM WOOD FC
High-flying Buruj Sports Academy has reached a landmark agreement with Boreham Wood FC of England which will see the Academy players get an opportunity to combine their education and football development at the club.
At meeting between the CEO of Buruj Academy, Dr Salaudeen Waheed and Boreham Wood chairman Danny Hunter, both sides signed up on the agreement which gives opportunities for young footballers to get signed to a contract by the club while still getting the chance to study at the Barnet Southgate College.
The agreement came about after the club organised a trials in which Buruj Academy product Omubo-dede Emmanuel impressed everyone with skills and performances clearly beyond his average age category.
A visibly delighted Hunter said Omubo-dede will join his team and called for greater working relationship with Buruj Academy.
Dr Salaudeen, visibly elated by the development, said it is in line with the vision of Buruj Sports Academy to help young boys have a well-rounded career.
He said: “Coming to the United Kingdom has been a blessing on many levels and this is just another feather in the cap of Buruj Academy. Now our players can benefit from training and learning at the club which has excellent facilities while also having a first class education. This is in consonance with our model at Buruj Sports and the agreement is further confirmation that we are on the right track.”
On how young players can benefit from this agreement, Dr Salaudeen said the Academy will maintain its strict selection criteria to shortlist interest players who would be helped to move
“We already have a selection policy which we think is fair and gives everybody an equal opportunity to be picked. When I return to Nigeria, we will announce the requirements for selection in line with our agreements with Boreham Wood. Luckily, some of the selected players will have the opportunity to participate in a tryout here when we come to the United Kingdom for the Manchester Cup as well as the Welsh Cup later in the year,” he said.
Boreham Wood Football Club are currently in the National League and play their home games at Meadow
