BURUJ YOUNGSTERS TIPPED FOR U 17 NATIONAL ASSIGNMENT! After Beating Jay1 Academy In Frank Peters Competition Opener
Following another impressive performance in their encounter against Jay1 Football Academy of Abuja inside Dipo Dina Sports Complex, Ijebu Ode on Monday afternoon, there are indications that quite a number of them will attract the attention of national U-17 team selectors when they regroup for their next assignment.
In what was their first game of this year’s edition of Frank Peters competition, the young boys from Ikorodu-based academy brushed aside the stern test of their Abuja counterparts by defeating them 2-1 with the goals scored by Ntong Lucky and Tobi Adeyera in the second half of the keenly contested encounter which eventually ended the dreams of their opponents in the competition. The two goals was assisted by the highly enterprising team’s playmates, Onwe Emmanuel.
The Buruj Boys who recently overpowered Barcelona Academy boys, FCBescola, 4-0 in a friendly match about two weeks ago entertained the Ijebu-Ode fans throughout the duration of the game with crisp passing and impressive positional play and the spectators who thronged the stadium are already tipping them to go all the way to win the competition.
While reacting to his boys’ superlative display, the head Coach Ishola Shuaibu heaped praise on what he described as their ability to adapt to the condition through which the game was played and promised to go back to the drawing board to correct all the noticeable lapses, saying his intention is to build a strong team that can go all the way in the competition.
“My boys played to the instructions and that was why they were able to contain the early onslaught of their opponents. There is still rooms for improvements ahead of other games we are going to play both in this competition and of course our international outings next year, ” the former Julius Berger and Super Eagles player vowed.
